Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies is the first book in Matthew Tysz's fantasy series. The plot is set in the fictitious world of Voulhire, where various factions vie for power and influence. The story follows the journey of Galen, a young man who finds himself stranded in Voulhire after being mysteriously transported from the war-torn Land of Princes.
The story begins with the Emperor of Lullabies, who had four sons, each of whom aspired to the throne and brought war, starvation, and chaos to the kingdom known as the Land of Princes. Galen fled to the enchanted land of Voulhire. He learns that his late uncle left his belongings in his name. Rowan, his uncle's executor, meets him and assists him in inheriting his uncle's property and navigating this new kingdom. What challenges and opportunities await Galen in this new kingdom?
The book also delves into another storyline, Lord Meldorath's haunted town of Hillport in Voulhire. Meldorath and his army, who rule the land with an iron fist, terrorize the people of Hillport. The rumor that he was still alive haunted the town after he was deposed. So Hillport's current leader, Lord Eldus Alderman, tries to bring the town to its full potential and get the people to stop living in fear. Will Lord Eldus bring peace and hope back to Hillport? Purchase this book to find out.
The book's strength is the sheer number of characters and plot lines it contains. The story takes place in the fictitious world of Voulhire, a land of magic and mystery. The author has done an outstanding job of creating a detailed and intricate world full of intriguing characters and storylines. The story follows the journeys of several characters, including Galen Bray, who is attempting to start a new life for himself. Each character has their own story, which the book seamlessly weaves together to create a rich and engaging tapestry of a world. The author has a gift for descriptive writing, which allows readers to vividly visualize the world and its characters. The book is packed with action and suspense to keep readers interested.
One of the book's main flaws is that it can be overwhelming for readers. The large cast of characters and multiple storylines can be difficult to keep track of, and some readers may struggle to keep up with the various plot threads, but the author included a glossary of characters to help the reader remember them. Another disadvantage is that the book is slow to read due to the multiple storylines it contains.
It's unusual to come across a book with such a rich and immersive setting, and it made for a memorable reading experience. Every detail was meticulously crafted to bring the setting to life, from the vivid descriptions of the landscape to the characters' unique cultural traditions and maps included in this book.
This book is exceptionally well-edited. This is a unique and engaging sci-fi/fantasy novel with multiple storylines and a large cast of characters. I'm giving it 5 out of 5 stars because of what I liked about the book. Those who enjoy epic fantasy and detailed world-building will likely enjoy this book, while those who prefer a faster-paced narrative may find it less appealing.
