In Matthew Tysz's epic fantasy novel We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, Galen Bray leaves his devastated homeland to begin a new life in Voulhire, an affluent kingdom with shaky political stability. Unfortunately, Riva Rohavi, a collection of sadists and malevolent mages, poses a threat to Voulhire. With complex characters, including monks, mages, combatants, and brutes, the plot also centres on the political unrest and socioeconomic problems of the realm. Galen's great-uncle leaves him a steel forge business in the town of Magnum Caelum, and with Rowan's assistance, his uncle's enforcer, he must find his way into the community. The narrative also focuses on the installation of Lord Eldus Alderman as the new king of Hillport, who has been tasked with restoring the town to its former splendour following Meldorath's exploitation of it. The action-packed, dramatic, and mysterious book serves as a prelude to the other instalments in the "We are Voulhire" series.

The book contains a lot of good qualities. The action-packed, intriguing, and dramatic story revolves around the coronation of Lord Eldus Alderman as the new ruler of Hillport. There are no errors that would ruin the reading experience or disrupt the smooth flow of the plot between chapters. The reader is transported into the novel by the author's superb descriptions of the individuals and incidents. The incredible world-building makes the mythical realm appear genuine and approachable. Each character's distinctive speech patterns are well-written, eliminating ambiguity and promoting clarity. Even the supporting characters have significant parts to play in the plot, which adds to the book's intrigue. Galen's character stands out for his modesty and diligence in particular. The novel also has humorous and sarcastic passages, which add to its appeal. A useful addition is the reference section at the end of the book, which defines the vocabulary used in Voulhire.

One drawback is the book's narrow concentration on a small number of people and locations, which might not provide readers with a thorough grasp of the planet and its inhabitants. Because the characters are underdeveloped, it may be difficult for readers to relate to them on an emotional level. Readers may not be satisfied by the story's quick conclusion, and the book's vague storyline, particularly in the initial portion, can be perplexing to them. Several perspectives can be confusing, which makes it difficult for readers to keep up with the story's progression.

I loved reading the book and didn’t come across any grammatical errors or typos. The book was professionally edited. I would like to rate the book 5 out of 5 stars.

Adult readers that enjoy fantasy, science fiction, and thrillers would make up the ideal audience for this work. Due to occasional profanity and light sexual content, it might not be suited for young children or teenagers but would be fine for individuals who are new to the fantasy genre. Readers who value well-written stories with nice endings will find the book to be well-edited and devoid of mistakes.
