We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a captivating debut novel by Australian author Matthew Tysz. The book is set in the fictional world of Voulhire, a land of sprawling kingdoms, ancient magic, and political intrigue. The story follows the journey of a young man named Galen who, after the tragic loss of his uncle, flees his town. He arrives at Voulhire on a boat and immediately inherits his late uncle's steel company. As he navigates this new and unfamiliar terrain, Galen must engage powerful forces and make difficult choices to survive and find his place in this new world.

One of the strengths of this book is Tysz's vivid and immersive world-building. From the impressive cities and castles to the intricate political systems and magical powers, Voulhire feels like a fully realized and mesmerizing realm that readers will delight in scouring. The idea of including a glossary at the end of the book was brilliant. The glossary helped me understand the meaning of some words and terms in the book. The characters are also well-drawn, with complex motivations and connections that add chasm and nuance to the story.

There is absolutely nothing I dislike about this book. Tysz's writing style is engaging and often poetic, with evocative portrayals and a strong sense of pacing.

I rate We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies 5 out of 5 stars. I found no negatives about this book. The book is also well edited and polished, with no errors or inconsistencies. I find no reason to rate the book any less than I did.

Overall, this is a strong debut novel that will appeal to fans of epic fantasy and immersive world-building. I strongly advise people who have been subject to pedophile abuse not to read this book.
