We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a fictional book that follows the story of Galen Bray, a young man from the war-stricken and impoverished Land of the Princes. Galen sees an opportunity for a fresh start when he inherits his late uncle's steel forge business in the affluent kingdom of Voulhire. However, upon his arrival, Galen realizes that Voulhire is not as tranquil as he had imagined, with dangers lurking in the form of corruption, magicians, and a terrorist organization known as the Riva Rohavi.

The book introduces a cast of additional characters, including Lord Eldus, who is entrusted with revitalizing the town of Hillport, and Lord Meldorath, a crafty magician with evil intentions. Galen confronts difficulties, adventures, and unforeseen allies as he begins his new life in Voulhire, navigating the complexities of the kingdom and its populace. The novel delves into the distinctions between places and their inhabitants while seamlessly weaving together elements of magic, conflict, loyalty, and familial bonds. Galen's journey takes him to a new place, where he must navigate the intricacies of the kingdom and its populace while unraveling puzzles and confronting challenges along the way. The novel explores themes of resilience, survival, and the pursuit of a better life in the face of adversity through Galen's experiences and those of other characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz for several reasons. First of all, the captivating plot and the unfolding events fascinated me from the first to the final page. The characters were approachable and had depth, with Galen's endearing and valiant portrayal standing out as especially noteworthy. Secondly, the presence of numerous points of view allowed me to experience the narrative from various perspectives, providing a diverse and comprehensive glimpse into the magical realm of Voulhire. The novel was easy to read and understand due to the author's plain writing style, and the detailed descriptions of the battle scenes and magical abilities enhanced the immersive experience of the book. Additionally, the book's integration of conflict, leadership, mystery, and inquiry gave the story depth and complexity, elevating it above the status of simple fantasy. Finally, I admired the author's inventiveness and ingenuity, especially in describing the fanciful realm of Caromentis and the carefully planned fight scenes.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and found no fault with it. The story was engaging, the characters were interesting, and the world-building was creative. The writing was of high quality, and I appreciated the diverse perspectives and unique elements of the story. Overall, I did not dislike anything about the book.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. As I found no typos, the book seemed to have undergone expert editing. Overall, We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies was a captivating and enjoyable read, and I highly recommend it to fellow fantasy lovers. I would also recommend this book to adult readers who are interested in history and magic. However, I would caution against recommending it to children due to instances of profanity in the book.
