Fabulous read. Definitely a 5 out of 5 stars.

I love science fiction and this is one of my favorites I’ve ever read. I will anxiously be waiting for the second book. This book introduces a new world where artificial intelligence and large cooperations rule every part of humans lives. It explains this new dystopia successfully, while also leaving room to insert our imagination. The removal of gender is a concept that I struggled to grasp. As the author uses she/her pronouns for everyone, I would unconsciously believe everyone was female unless specific body parts were highlighted. This places our societies confusion, fear, shame, violence and discrimination over gender identities as irrelevant which feels appealing. However, at the same time this idea of unity and equality are all a lie and taking away one’s identity doesn’t actually work. The author manages to somehow make the reader recognize the pros and cons of each side of the rules. The battle of freedom over control seems like an obvious choice, however the author presents each in a way that makes both seem potentially desirable.

I enjoyed this read immensely and would recommend it to any science fiction lovers.
