A brave new world of magic.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is your fantasy fiction come true. There are multiple characters, all of whom play significant roles in the story. The first character that is introduced to us is Galen. He is a refugee from the Lands of the Princes, and is going to Voulhire to take over his great-uncle's forge. Voulhire is ruled by King Wilhelm, who is troubled between politics and ruling. Wilhelm sends Lord Eldus and his family to restore Hillport, destroyed by two of its former lords. The previous lord of Hillport is the infamous mage, Meldorath, who is as mysterious as he is powerful.

This is the first book in the series and concentrates heavily on world-building. The exposition of the story is excellent. The imagery is so seamless that the world of Voulhire feels real. The characters are remarkable. The simple Galen finds happiness and peace in his prosperous new world, not knowing the darkness of Voulhire. Wilhelm and Eldus are both rulers and lords, who are struggling to make their people happy and keep them safe from the dangers that surround them. Mianora and Riva Rohavi are unpredictable and mighty. And most importantly, Lord Meldorath is an influential enigma throughout Voulhire and the story. The chapters are basically different perspectives of the characters, and these insights into their minds make them more interesting. The writing is simple and elegant with different plots, captivating myths, and brilliant characters making this book exhilarating.

I did not find anything negative about the book. It is fun and enjoyable.

I give the book 5 out of 5 stars.
The book is written beautifully with attention to detail. It was very well edited and I did not find any errors. The world-building is great and sets up the world and the plot very well for the next books. There is always a new twist around the corner, making the story more exciting. The amazing coming together of magic and science in the story is a treat. The worlds of Cosmos and Caromentis are built perfectly for the story. The main characters as well as the secondary characters are written admirably, making the story richer and more intriguing. This fast-paced book leaves you wanting for more.

I recommend this book highly to all readers of fantasy and fiction. The magic, mystery, and adventures make it an exciting read.
