Kim is your average young woman. She has her share of childhood drama. She got into trouble as a young woman in school. She’s now trying to stay out of trouble by following the rules. She is also struggling with relationships. She has a decent job and she has ambition. She dreams of working with the best AIs. But an unexpected reunion with her friend from before turns her world upside down. She gets into trouble again. But unbelievably, the consequence of her action led to a promotion of sorts. Kim finds herself where she wanted so badly to be. Unfortunately, it is not what she thought it would be. The privileges bestowed on her came with a high price - a price she refused to pay.

Reading Terms of Service: Subject to change without notice by Craig W. Stanfill reminded me a lot about George Orwell’s 1984. The society they live in allows little to no freedom for individuality, and even less for expression. Some of their values are still new concepts to our present-day society. Their culture pushes for selflessness - to always consider the greater good. Sadly. They also have a different language called Panglobal. However, Terms of Service: Subject to change without notice is set in the future.

Imagine a world with zero tolerance for misbehavior and chaos. A world where artificial intelligence guides you every step of the way, literally. Society has little tolerance for deviations from accepted practices. At first, it seems to be a dream come true. Until you realize how stifling it is. How, despite the ideal conditions, no one is truly free. They can’t even speak or think against the authorities. It makes you weigh everything in real life.

I rate Terms of Service: Subject to change without notice by Craig W. Stanfill a 5 out of 5 stars. The theme is great. The story is captivating.

I recommend this book to individuals who are open to new ideas. I would not recommend it to conservative folks because they might find the concepts completely unacceptable, even deplorable. I would not recommend the book to those who are have accepted new concepts for our society, since they might contest the consequences in the book. I would recommend this book to someone who wants to read a book that’s different. Those who like to dive in deep into a book's meaning and decipher things will also enjoy this book. Personally, I am eager to read the sequel.
