Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
People leave their countries for many reasons. War was the sole reason for Galen's choice to go to Voulhire. He knew that if he stayed in his country, he would die. So he did what any right-thinking person in his shoes would do. He jumped into a ship that was headed to Voulhire. On arriving in that country, he would learn that the stories he had heard about Voulhire being peaceful and the perfect place to live were nothing but fairy tales. Sure, that country was a thousand times better than his, but some people were beating the drums of war. They threatened violence against all who opposed them. They vowed to kill and destroy those they found unworthy of living in the new world they sought to create. What role does fate have in store for Galen in this country that seems to be on the brink of implosion?
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a fantasy fiction novel. It belongs to the We are Voulhire series. It is the first book in that series. Two of the major themes in this book are magic and science. Thus, I recommend it to readers who love reading beautiful fantasy fiction series about science and magic.
My favorite thing about We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies is how interesting its plot is. There was never a dull or uninteresting moment in the story. If Galen and Rowan were not chasing answers to their questions, Meldorath was conniving with some ruthless people who did not mind killing to prove a point. Where that was not the case, some other character was cooking up mischief in their own way. Do you see why I say there was no dull moment in the story?
The book is pretty short. I did not expect it to be so long since it is just the first book in the series, but I was sad when I realized that I was approaching the end of the story it told. Thankfully, all other books in the We are Voulhire series have been written and published by Matthew Tysz. Because of how he told the story and how captivating he made it, I cannot wait to read the sequels. That is to tell you that I did not dislike anything in We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies. I liked everything about it. The cover page is simple yet powerful. It has maps that show the terrain of Voulhire and all the cities in it. The story also progressed in the most brilliant and entertaining way. I got to see how layers were peeled off each character to reveal who they truly were.
I cannot ask for a better novel than this. In addition to keeping me enthralled by the suspense, it came with an interesting storyline. We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies was also edited excellently. That is a proper finish to a book such as this. If you read my review from the beginning, you would have noticed that I did not mention that it had any negative aspects. That is because it did not. For that reason alone, We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies has earned itself a rating of 5 out of 5 stars from me.
