Yanara, the world maker, is the celestial wizard of Yand, and the only one of her kind. She has an exceptional ability to manipulate the elements, but her powers are often unstable, leading to significant consequences. The humanoids of Yand were forced into a perpetual eclipse by Yanara's Big Bend. It was an attempt to save their race from extinction in the hands of the K'tul. Subsequently, they were pushed to a new, improvised bend that the Yendai had named the Undo Bend, which undid the previous bend but had even more catastrophic effects. Amidst all of this, Yanara had to balance fighting the K'tul, building a family, and creating an elite mage force for both Yand and Yenda, while fighting off a demon K'tul in her dreams.

The Worldmaker of Yand - Yildun by Andri E. Elia is a compelling tale that takes readers on a magical journey to the distant land of Yand. The story revolves around the protagonist, Yanara, who has the power to mingle, create, destroy, shift celestial bodies, and even give life. With vivid and intricate world-building, Elia weaves magic, politics, and human emotions into a masterfully executed narrative. Elia's writing is rich with detail, and the characters are well-developed, making it easy to become fully invested in their journeys. Elia employs simple language, peculiar mythical creatures, and vivid illustrations to paint a world that delights the senses.

However, the book had some minor setbacks. The beginning of the novel was slow and hectic. Elia went a little too deep in explaining Yanara's backstory, particularly her views on marriage and romance. The whole book felt like a very long monologue from Yanara, with her tone sounding indifferent most of the time.

Yildun is an engaging first book in the Worldmaker of Yand series, and its rating falls nothing short of 5 stars out of 5 stars. Its shortcomings were not significant enough to detract from its rating since they were mostly personal observations. Also, the book was exceptionally well edited.

The Worldmaker of Yand - Yildun by Andri E. Elia is a triumphant work of fantasy literature that will appeal to fans of epic fantasy, adventure, and magic, including those who appreciate LGBTQ+ twists. It is a well-written and captivating book that will leave readers eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series.
