Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is the first fantasy novel in the We are Voulhire series. The story revolves around the kingdom of Voulhire, along with its magical world.
The main character in this novel is named Galen Bray, who manages to escape from the Land of Princes. In the Land of Princes, many wars happen constantly. He went to the Kingdom of Voulhire to claim the inheritance from his uncle in the form of a blacksmith's forge. Galen is assisted by Rowan, the executor, to take over all of his uncle’s businesses and help Galen to settle down. But of course, there would be no stories if there are no problems in the kingdom. Galen had to face a lot of problems and drama in this new place. Apart from that, he also has to face another world in a parallel universe and all its complications, including the political situation with King Wilhelm.
What I like most about this book is that the author did a brilliant job of combining parallel worlds with kingdoms so the plot presented is quite complex. But even so, the story is still interesting and makes it difficult for readers to put the book down. This book is written from a variety of character perspectives. I feel like this was done as an introduction to the multiple characters for the later books in the Voulhire series. The author has also described the characters well and developed them perfectly.
I didn't find anything I don't like about this book. The author has succeeded in bringing dark fantasy into a complex story and keeps the reader curious. The story in this book is quite unpredictable so readers will guess the stories in subsequent books. There is a glossary and also a map at the beginning and end so that it can provide a detailed explanation.
I will give this book 5 out of 5 stars. I didn't find any grammatical or typo errors. It seems that this book has been exceptionally well-edited. The language used by the author is not too convoluted and easy to understand. This is a suspense, mystery, action, magical, fantasy, adventure, and thrilling story that can grip those who enjoy these themes. I would recommend this novel for those aged 18 and over because it has profanity language and sexual nature, but it's not too vulgar.
