Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
The first book in a continuing series of nine volumes, We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz. Galen Bray, a young kid, flees his war-torn home in pursuit of a better one in this introduction book. He is at Voulhire, the residence of his just passed away and estranged uncle, who left Galen his inheritance in the shape of a forging company. In a second tale, the book describes the efforts of a newly installed lord in Hillport, whose predecessor's rule had left the city's residents both physically and psychologically wounded.
This novel had a lot of wonderful qualities, but the one thing that really captured my attention was the world-building. The author took the time to walk his readers through the universe he created, which was very much his own. The reader is taken into a magical realm filled with magicians, kings, knights, and other characters. This book accomplishes precisely what it's supposed to do set up and describe the universe of the continuing series. To further assist readers in understanding the terminology used in the Voulhire universe, Tysz included a reference manual at the conclusion of the book. The writing itself is another wonderful aspect of this book. Because of Tysz's distinctive writing style, this book has many memorable passages that anybody can understand. Characters who stand out and shine in their own particular ways are also created by the author.
I didn't really like how Galen Bray was represented in the novel, and that was my only criticism of it. I assumed that because he was the main character, most of the writing would center on him. However, he only took a little portion of the book. I discovered a few grammatical mistakes while I was reading. And I believe that more editing is necessary.
I give this book a score of 5 out of 5 stars. After reading the first chapter, I was completely engrossed and eager to find out what occurred next. Tysz does a fantastic job building up this plot, which has all the makings of an epic fantasy series. I can't wait to watch how his series develops in the future. I've been waiting so long to read the sort of fantasy I've been craving, and now it's here in the shape of this book.
Anyone who enjoys science fiction and fantasy, as well as anyone who wants to start reading in this genre but is unsure where to begin, should read this book. This book, in my opinion, is a fantastic place to start and won't let you down. The quantity of explanation and lack of intense action may turn off some readers, but this is just the first book of a larger series, so there will inevitably be less talking and more fighting. This book has a distinct feeling of being the first part of a much longer work.
