Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
The captivating fiction series "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz takes you to "the magnificent and terrifying" Kingdom of Voulhire. He presents an in-depth description of some of the beautiful places in Voulhire such as "Soulhire, Virko, Ballerhal, Magnum Caleum, Yamon Soul”. The book describes a story of Galen Bray who arrives at Magnum Caelum town from the land of Princes to inherit his uncle’s property.
Galen is ushered into his uncle’s property by the Mayor of Magnum Caelum, Malcolm. Unfortunately, he misses a chance to meet his uncle who had died just before he arrived in Voulhire. Galen wishes that his uncle could have been there with him, in that beautiful house. He meets Rowan, the executor of his uncle’s estate, who shares more about his uncle and his businesses. Rowan takes Galen to the holy Yamon Soul, as they had to find an imbuer who is to help them find out about the value of the rock that Galen had found, as he takes over the role of blacksmith.
Unlike where he is coming from, the land of "War of the Princes", Galen finds Voulhire to be a place of unity and laughter, "a united community where their hands formed a web all connected as one".
The author presents a meticulous description of the beautiful city of Soulhire, the capital of Voulhire with two rivers ‘Ordo & Liber’ meeting to form River Nubere. The land is ruled by King Wilhelm who is interested in protecting the land, though not without its challenges. In effort to safeguard the land, the King seeks the help of Mianoran Knights, an army of well-trained knights. It is the land of magic, with even a magic world called Caromentis. Rowan was mesmerized that Galen seemed unaware of magic.
Matthew Tysz describes a small town of Hillport in Voulhire, which was ruled by lord Eldus Alderman, who is e determined “to bring the rural southern town to its true potential”. He rules after lord Meldorath was arrested, and people starts to rumor that he is “dead”.
I enjoyed the way Matthew uses imagery to create a sensation to the readers of happenings of the Kingdom of Voulhire and the events of every character in the series. When reading the book, you can feel the emotions and almost imagine that you are in that magnificent land. Tysz meticulously describes “the Feast of Human Hands” in a special way that each person reading through can visualize every detail of the event. The people of Voulhire came together to “celebrate the year’s prosperities and to pray for a prosperous future”. In particular, the author describes the celebration of the golden age of the Kingdom of Voulhire which brought together people from all corners. King Wilhelm receives gifts such as “Finest wine, fattest animals, brightest vegetables, and richest oils, both edible & fragrant”.
I found this book adventurous and look forward to the succeeding series. I will rate the book five out of five stars because it is well edited. It is indeed remarkable and fit for anyone out there looking for a splendid experience.
