Review of the Silo series by Hugh Howey

Post by myBuby01 »

This is a great series in the sci-fi genre. I don't usually read sci-fi but this series sounded really good. It's after some type of apocalypse and everyone left is living in this underground silo. Everyone has a job to do and they are completely self sufficient. They make their own plastics, grow their own food, everything. Everything is done for the good of the silo. When someone utters the forbidden words-"I want to go outside"- they are sentenced to cleaning. This means they are put outside in the toxic environment and made to clean the lenses on all the silo's sensors. They will die in a matter of minutes. When our main character is put to cleaning, in a devious, unethical way, her friends make modifications to her suit that allows her to stay out in the environment longer. This is where she makes a stunning discovery and everything she thought she knew is turned upside down.
This is a truly engrossing book that I recommend very highly!
