Official Review: Losers vs. Zombies by Joe Fowler

Joe Fowler’s Losers vs. Zombies is a fantasy fiction novel suitable for all readers who are fans of these genres, but I must warn you, although the story-line sounded promising, the book as a whole was disappointing to me.
Brad is a successful writer of werewolf novels and is a rather unsociable human being (as most writers are). While writing his next hit novel, the zombie apocalypse strikes. Due to his lonely life Brad realizes the day of reckoning has come a few days later when his neighbor tries to bite him. Having finished all his food and with ravaging neighbors clawing at his door, Brad decides to make a run for it, setting off on a journey of survival, gathering followers and friends down the road. With his vivid imagination, Brad thinks of ways to fight the zombies, which might bring hope back to mankind, but as the daring life takes its toll on his body, he has to decide…keep fighting or retire?
The plot of the story left me wanting more. This is an ordinary tale of the zombie apocalypse

The book was written in first person and though this was not done badly, I feel the story would have had promise if the main character, Brad, was given more of a back story. There was one instance in the book the author stated Brad didn’t like to give much history for his werewolf characters, because readers could then make up their own

The characters lack color and background. The author tells the reader how the characters are, without showing the struggles the characters went through to get to their respective places or even giving them decent personalities. Having almost a non-existing back story for most of the characters, the reader doesn’t necessary feel sympathy towards a character when they meet an awful end. I kept reading the book, trying to connect to it, but that never happened

I give this book 1 out of 4 stars for mainly being too predictable and colorless. I would not recommend this book to readers, unless you are an enormous fan of zombies. Allons-y!

Again, thanks for the honest review. I have received more reviews about this book from others that had given the same sentiments as this review did.
