Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is an intriguing and captivating fantasy novel by Matthew Tysz. It is the first of the nine books in the Voulhire series. Our protagonist, Galen Bray, escapes his hometown of war and poverty. He arrives in the beautiful and modern country of Voulhire. Galen tries to start a new life while enjoying the magical world of Voulhire. He tries to fit in and slowly starts to learn about the riches and history of the enormous kingdom. The king of Voulhire, King Wilhelm Arcolo, aims to make the progressing country of Voulhire a better-developed country. The king, along with Lord Eidus and other members of state, tries to fight the dangers lurking around the kingdom. Is the dangerous gang, Riva Rohavi, the only danger that the kingdom faces? Or are there other dangers that Voulhire will face? Read the book to find out more.
I enjoyed reading this book, as there were many positive aspects. I liked that the book explains a lot in detail, and some parts are from Galen's point of view. It helps the readers make more sense of what is happening in the book and captivates their curiosity. Secondly, I like that this book is a hybrid genre and talks about many different issues. Thirdly, I really liked how the characters, mainly Galen, progressed throughout the story and became much more likable. I also liked Rowan's character, as he has a great sense of humor, and the scenes with him were funny and enjoyable.
I loved that the author also added a character list and gave us a description of each character at the beginning of the book, which makes a reader know who the main characters are and how they are related to one another. The thing I did not like about this book was that it was confusing at first. After reading the third paragraph, I had to go back to the beginning of the book and re-start it. After doing this, that's when I started to understand the book and make more sense of it. It starts out confusing, but gradually you start understanding, and you will then start to love this book.
I rate this book five out of five stars, as I absolutely loved and adored it. This book had been professionally edited, as I found no errors throughout my reading. Other than this book being confusing to me at the beginning, I applaud the writer for writing such a wonderful and inspiring novel. I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
I recommend this book to adults who love to read books about war, politics, suspense, and fantasy. I would also recommend this to adults who would like to try reading something different than what they usually read, as this book would make a reader enjoy it.
