In the captivating series titled We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Mathew Tsyk, the focal point lies within the realm of Voulhire, a kingdom that boasts eight resplendent cities: Virko, Soulhire, Yamon Soul, Magnum Caelum, Ballarhal, Gallador, Chalethire, and Iseron, where the magnificent capital city, Soulhire, resides. The narrative takes an intriguing turn when Lord Orlin of Hillport finds himself apprehended and imprisoned under mysterious charges. However, the tranquility is shattered when, a week later, an enraged mob storms the jail, driven by newly uncovered evidence that reveals Lord Orlin's dark secret as a pedophile. The mob mercilessly drags him from his confinement, desecrates his body, and sets it ablaze in a shallow pit, refusing him the sanctity of a burial in his family crypt. In the aftermath of Lord Orlin's demise, King Wilhelm appoints General Meldorath as the new ruler of Hillport, seeking stability and justice. Yet the tides of fate quickly shift as, within a mere three months, King Wilhelm orders Meldorath's arrest. The commander of the eastern army dutifully carries out the king's command, taking Meldorath into custody, shrouded in a veil of secrecy and intrigue. Meanwhile, amidst the hustle and bustle of Magnum Caelum, a young man named Galen embarks on a daring escape from the confinements of the "land of princes" to claim his rightful inheritance of his uncle Galen Onita's estate. Galen's perilous journey is made possible by the assistance and guidance of a trusted executor named Rowan.

I found this book to be incredibly gripping, with a narrative that kept me eagerly turning the pages. The author's skillful structuring of the story allowed it to unfold at a steady and satisfying pace. The characters within the book were remarkably well-crafted, a testament to the author's attention to detail. The vivid descriptions employed throughout the book allowed me to vividly visualize the unfolding events. The author's writing style is praiseworthy, striking a perfect balance that effectively engages and communicates with the readers. Among the cast of characters, Meldorath's presence captivated me. Not only was his backstory intricately developed, but his commanding aura made him truly unforgettable. Equally fascinating was Galen, whose character displayed a rare depth of empathy and understanding, setting him apart from the others. The author's portrayal of magic was equally enchanting, capturing its allure and mystique.

However, it was Rowan, the executor of Galen's uncle, who emerged as my personal favorite. His charm, wit, and amiable nature made him instantly likeable. What set him apart was his readiness to go beyond the call of duty, extending his support far beyond what was expected. Galen was awestruck by Rowan's unwavering commitment and the genuine friendship he offered. One of the author's notable strengths lies in their ability to construct a richly imagined world that is meticulously detailed and believable in every aspect. From the diverse ecosystems and cultures to the intricate political institutions and civilizations, Voulhire came to life with immersive depth. As a reader, I found myself fully engrossed in this imaginative universe, deeply invested in the lives of its inhabitants and their formidable challenges.

However, the author's choice of language in the book includes several unfamiliar words. Consequently, I found myself frequently referring to the glossary at the end of the book to grasp its meanings within the context. This reliance on the glossary slowed down my reading pace, resulting in a sense of fatigue and diminished interest. Setting aside this minor setback, the book is truly delightful and impactful. It is worth noting the exceptional editing, as I did not detect any errors throughout the entire read. Therefore, I unequivocally rate We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz 5 out of 5 stars. This rating is well-deserved due to the author's skill in infusing the book with qualities that create an enthralling reading experience.

If you are an enthusiast of science fiction novels brimming with mystery and enchantment, I wholeheartedly recommend immersing yourself in this captivating book.
