Matthew Tysz's "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" is a captivating work of historical fiction with a delightful touch of dark humor. This enthralling tale weaves together elements of magic, witchcraft, politics, and murder, delivering a narrative that keeps readers guessing at every turn.

What initially drew me to this book is the pervasive sense of intrigue and mystery that permeates its pages. The author skillfully withholds information, ensuring that readers can never predict what will happen next. Tysz's writing style is superb, showcasing excellent character and plot development. Despite the abundance of characters, each one is given ample opportunity to grow and evolve through dedicated chapters, enabling readers to fully grasp their perspectives.

Galen had long forgotten the tranquility of a peaceful existence. Gone were the days when his only concern was the delightful meals his mother would prepare for dinner. The serenity and safety he once cherished abruptly vanished when one of the Emperor of Lullaby's sons, foolishly driven to seize his brothers' lands, became the ruler of Galen's hometown. Since that fateful day, bloodshed became an unrelenting presence, as if destined to persist indefinitely.

Amidst this chaos, Voulhire emerged as Galen's sole hope for a semblance of normalcy. He deemed it a chance worth risking his life for, unwilling to miss such an opportunity. Little did Galen know, however, that the Voulhire he yearned for so desperately harbored an insidious evil lurking in the shadows, concealed from his knowledge.

Notably, the book leaves no room for disappointment. Its engrossing narrative, filled with unexpected twists and sustained suspense, ensures readers remain fully engaged. The meticulous editing is evident, as the book is flawlessly polished. For all these reasons, I wholeheartedly rate "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz with 5 out of 5 stars. It should be highly recommended to those who relish dark scenes, while also appealing to fans of historical fiction.
