Fantasy readers must read We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz. The majority of this first book in an eight-volume series is devoted to introducing the numerous characters. The characters are rich, nuanced, and fully realized. You will believe you know who the protagonist is in one chapter, but in the next, you start to doubt yourself once more. It's a book that requires concentration; it's definitely not one to read while dizzy. There is so much data to sort through. I discovered that the plot develops more slowly than in the first season of a TV show, but don't let that turn you off—there is enough action and graphic violence woven into the story.

The first book in the "We are Voulhire" series, written by Matthew Tysz, features a unique plot and is titled "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" Numerous characters are introduced to the reader in this novel, but Galen and Lord Eldus are the two on which the author focuses the most. When writing about Lord Eldus in the chapter, the author uses a third-person narration. In the chapter on Galen, he used first-person narration. The author has included a map at the beginning to assist the reader get a sense of Voulhire, and a glossary section at the end.

I appreciated how the author arranged the chapters from the viewpoints of the various people, from the lower classes and chancellors to lords and monarchs. I liked how the first book in this series concentrated on character growth and various human typologies. Eldus Alderman, a character I particularly liked, was. I admired his foresight and initiative in trying to defend his people and change Hillport's economy. For instance, he worked to advance Hillport's educational system and aid the kids Orlin was abusing. I really appreciated Rowan's talent for scanning people and Galen's friendliness.

The absence of information concerning the second parallel universe known as Caromentis is the only thing I can criticize about this book. Since this book is all about establishing the major components of the series, I wish the author had spent more time introducing the other planet. Additionally, it baffled me how the king could maintain his reign in a magical realm populated with strong magic, especially Meldorath, who was one of the monarch's greatest opponents. You'll have to read the book to find out, though.

This book was exceptionally well-edited as there were no errors in the book,in my opinion. I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars because it had plenty of twists and turns and held my interest all the way to the conclusion. The narrative flow was enjoyable and simple to understand. You'll want to read the second section because the denouements at the end are decent but disjointed enough. For those who enjoy science fiction and fantasy, I highly recommend this book.
