Within two years of giving each prince small chains of islands off the mainland of the emperor’s empire, the Lands of the Princes were in chaos. Just as their father (the emperor) had planned, the princes were locked in a civil war that stretched for decades. Galen luckily finds protection while being chased by his enemies. Somehow, he travels by water to another land to take over his dying uncle’s forge. This land is the terrifying and magnificent kingdom of Voulhire!

In the land of Voulhire lived a feared magician, Meldorath. The mage and magistrate planned and executed a coup on Lord Orlin after he discovered his tricks. He then became the new lord of Hillport. However, the king noticed that Lord Meldorath had an evil plan to use his magic on his citizens to conduct experiments. Hence, the king of Voulhire, King Wilhelm Arcolo, and the lord’s associates arrested and imprisoned him. The king also gave the citizens a new leader. How will Galen cope in his new environment? Will the new leader be good or worse? Will Meldorath show up again? Read this book by Matthew Tysz to learn more.

We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is the first installment of the We Are Voulhire series. The book had a brief introduction of characters, like in a drama. It also contained a fictional map representing the Voulhire kingdom and a prologue. At the end of the book was a glossary of words, concepts, and terms related to Voulhire. Reading the book was like seeing or reading a play. Each chapter exposed a particular character. The author ensured that readers would not grab the entire story. Hence the need to read the other books in the series. I enjoyed reading the book. The author successfully made the end of the book suspenseful and intriguing. The book was exceptionally well-edited; I found no errors while reading.

My only dislike of the book is that it does not show Galen's exact entanglement in the story. It is not enough reason to rate the book less, as I believe readers will discover it in other books in the series. Therefore, I rate this book five out of five stars.

I recommend this book to lovers of magic, war, and fantasy. Due to some levels of profanity, I recommend guidance for young readers.

Great review. Coincidentally I'm just about to review the same book, and I can say your thought on the book is insightful. I like your introduction.

Your review is detailed without giving major spoilers, I loved reading it. I also wondered about Galens role in the story while reading this book but I am a lover of suspense so I didn't see it as something to dislike.

This book was a good read for me. I liked how the author introduced the characters and the story kept me wanting more. I also liked how the author ended this first book. The suspense was great, like you said.

I read this book last month, and I never really got closure on Meldorath's matter. I must continue the series to find out other stuff too I guess.

This book Fortress, a very bad system of government where the people suffer, and they look for opportunities to leave their country to find greener pastures.

So from your review, I can say this is a Kingdom story featuring Galen and obviously a series thing. If I don't get to read other books in the series, it might be difficult for me or anyone to follow through the story. Thanks for writing well.

This book has an intriguing cover page that makes one ask questions. It also thought-provoking. The book has a plot that sounds like a movie. I wonder the experiences that Galen meets in this new land. Amazing review.

Actually I don't like movies with this kind of plot so it applies to books like this. I tired but the it's not just for me. But then I recommend it to fans of this genre.
