Are we struggling with unity and governance? We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is the first book in the series. In the Land of the Princes, it was death by the sword or slow starvation. When Galen Bray got an opportunity to move to a different land, he did not hesitate. He moves to the land of Voulhire to take over his uncle's estate after his death. His uncle was a blacksmith and left Galen his business when he died.

Galen expects the land to be peaceful, but he finds the situation different there. The land is filled with people with supernatural powers and political fights. He meets Rowan, his uncle's executor, who is so good to him. Will he survive in this new land? King Wilhelm celebrates the Feast of Human Hands to bring unity to his kingdom, but other forces fight to bring him down. Will he manage to bring peace?

I liked the character development in the book. Galen, King Wilhelm, Rowan, and Midius Maido are among the characters that contribute to building the plot of the book. I loved the way Rowan was so nice to Galen. The author also includes a map of the land of Voulhire. This helps us get a picture of it while reading. The humor in the book made it more interesting, especially the dancing soldiers. The twists and turns kept me active all through the story.

I feel like the author did not speak much about the female characters in the book, like Beth, which was necessary. However, this does not affect my rating. I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars because I found no grammatical errors or typos in it. The buildup of the plot is also captivating, so it deserves a high rating.

I recommend this book to lovers of political thrillers. The book is a mixture of magic and science fiction. Lovers of such things would pick something from it. I recommend it to a mature audience because of the profanity and violent scenes in it. There is a lot to learn from the book concerning leadership, peace, and power.
