Matthew Tysz's We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies offers an enthralling science-fiction experience that will captivate readers from start to finish. Set in the intriguing world of Voulhire, the story follows Galen, who becomes the heir to the Onita Steel business and embarks on a journey to the Land of the Princes in Magnum Caelum, a part of the Voulhirian Kingdom. Meanwhile, Lord Eldus Alderman, a former judge, is assigned to investigate an economic decline in the Hillport countryside. As their paths intertwine, mysterious stones and dancing soldiers add suspense and intrigue to the plot.

This book is a perfect recommendation for fans of the science-fiction genre and those who enjoy political thrillers. Matthew Tysz masterfully weaves cryptic political twists into his creative writing style, ensuring an engaging and thought-provoking read. Additionally, the author skillfully incorporates unusual negotiations that prove effective, offering an intriguing perspective for business-minded readers. However, it's worth noting that this book may not be suitable for younger audiences due to explicit scenes involving violence and multiple deaths.

One of the novel's strengths lies in its well-developed plot and characters. Although character development initially progresses at a slightly slower pace, the author manages to create a strong foundation that keeps readers invested. Despite the main protagonist not being the sole focal point of the series, the author cleverly maintains humor and a unique setup in every scenario. The introduction and departure of supporting characters are strategically timed, enhancing the overall storytelling experience. However, some readers may find the story's action unfolding a bit gradually, with the true excitement building up primarily in the final ten pages, where unexpected twists and turns abound.

In terms of writing style and technical aspects, the book shines. The professional editing ensures a seamless reading experience, with no noticeable misspelled words or grammatical errors. The vivid depiction of the lobster scenes is particularly captivating, leaving readers yearning for more as they eagerly flip through the pages. Furthermore, the author impressively incorporates the figurative meaning of the rock-paper-scissors game, adding depth to the narrative. Personally, I found great enjoyment in envisioning the dancing soldiers, a testament to the author's descriptive prowess.

With its intriguing themes of family ties, business, friendship, loyalty, and servitude, We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies establishes a deep emotional connection with readers. The presence of magic adds an entertaining layer to the tale, as it becomes an integral tool in solving crimes and unraveling treachery between warriors and mages. Moreover, the book explores thought-provoking subjects such as logic and reason, leadership and governance, and the pursuit of peace over power.

In conclusion, although the initial pacing may seem slightly slow, it does not hinder the overall experience or the reader's attachment to the themes explored. This book successfully blends elements of science-fiction, political intrigue, and magical realms, delivering a truly immersive adventure. Matthew Tysz has created a remarkable world in Voulhire, leaving readers eager to discover what lies ahead in the rest of the series. I wholeheartedly rate the book with 5 out of 5 stars
