Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a sci-fi/fantasy book written by Matthew Tysz. It is the first volume of the We are Voulhire series. It is an introduction to the magical kingdom of Voulhire and the issues that loom therein. The author provides a map detailing the different cities of Voulhire and how to navigate them. This gives the reader a thorough insight into the literary descriptions that would be contained in the book.
This book has a lot of characterization and world-building. Matthew Tysz has succeeded in laying a firm foundation for the remaining volumes. Many things were left unclear, like the true relationship between the former Hillport Lord, Orlin, and the children, the real reason Meldorath is being kept under lock and key, and a host of other cliffhangers. The author has created enough suspense to keep readers on the lookout for the other books in the series.
The author does not cast a particular character, as the book was told from several points of view, but Galen Bray quickly became my favourite character. He is a young lad who has lived all his years in the land of the princes. He escapes when he gets a letter from an uncle he did not know he had. Upon his arrival in Voulhire, he's informed that his uncle has passed away, leaving all his wealth to young Galen. Galen seems to possess hidden abilities that even he is not aware of.
There was nothing to dislike about this book. I'm intrigued by the author's imagination and style of writing. The book is packed with adventure and action. I did not discover any errors, which proves that the book's editing was impeccably done.
Finally, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The above paragraph justifies this rating. Sensitive readers should be informed that the book contains vivid descriptions of violence and several instances of profanity. I recommend it to lovers of sci-fi and fantasy novels who do not mind reading a series.

Thank you Kavita. I'd really like to read the other volumes of the book.Kavita Shah wrote: ↑20 Jun 2023, 11:58 Amazing review Chrystal. I like that Galen met a friend in the place. The suspense part was very nice and so many new characters were introduced, great book too.
