The Emperor of Lullabies, fearing that his power-hungry sons would overthrow him and divide the empire amongst themselves, devised a plan to prevent immediate conflict. He granted each prince a chain of islands, along with armies and weapons, hoping they would compete for control over the islands instead of the throne. However, despite the equal advantages and resources provided to each prince, their desire for sole heirship eventually led to a prolonged and brutal war. The Emperor, who had anticipated this outcome, watched as the conflict unfolded over the years.

The book "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz has a storyline that centers around a young immigrant from the Land of the Princes who arrives in Voulhire after his uncle's death. The uncle had bequeathed his estate to the protagonist. Meanwhile, the kingdom of Voulhire is experiencing its Golden Age under the rule of a wise king. Additionally, a city in the kingdom has recently undergone two changes of lords in a short period and has now been assigned a new Lord who aims to aid in the recovery from the damage caused by the previous rulers. Furthermore, there is a former Lord, a powerful mage feared by all and rumored to be dead.

"We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" is the first book in a nine-series collection, serving as an introduction to the main characters of the series. The storyline is captivating and absorbing, blending elements of science, religion, and magic. I also appreciate that Matthew provided a glossary of characters to help readers easily identify the various individuals.

Additionally, I did not encounter any errors in this book, indicating that it was properly edited. Therefore, I'm awarding this book five out of five stars.

I highly recommend the book "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" to anyone who enjoys sci-fi books and extended storylines. After reading this book, you'll definitely be eager to delve into the remaining books in the series.
