We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is the first installment of an epic science fiction and fantasy story set in the fictional land of Voulhire. After a young adult named Galen Bray is rescued from the harsh and brutal land of the Princes, ravaged by war, he seeks to start a new life in Magnum Caelum, one of Voulhire's towns. However, his new life and dream are threatened by the sinister plans of a former general and powerful mage, Meldorath, and a rebellious group known as the Riva Rohavi. What does Voulhire hold for young Galen Bray? Is Voulhire the refuge he seeks? Follow this intriguing story to uncover it.

The story was an interesting read, which I commend the author a lot for. One thing I am especially grateful for is his addition of a map of the land of Voulhire. This map made it easy for readers to understand the geography of Voulhire, thus allowing them to successfully follow the movements of characters from one town to another. Readers can make further reference to the map whenever a new town or location is noticed while reading. This made the story easy and enjoyable for readers, as they were not left speculating on the layout of Voulhire.

Another thing I love and commend the author for doing in the book is the introduction of characters and simplifications of words that may prove difficult for readers of the book to understand. The author made this possible by giving a brief introduction to the major characters found in the book. He is able to differentiate characters based on their roles, such as mages, chancellors, and vice chancellors, from the king, lord, and former lords of the town of Hillport. By doing this, the story is simplified for readers in such a way that they won't be left confused by the number of characters present in the book.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies did not fail to meet my expectations in providing entertainment and action-packed scenes. One such scene is the fight between Captain Barcaedi and his marines with Siden of Chalethire. Here we can see Siden's ability to bend space, thus giving readers a feel for science fiction. Readers can also get a feel for fantasy from the different scenes of magic being performed, one of which is Marshus ability to control water. These scenes provided a lot of entertainment for the novel.

There was nothing to dislike about the book. The author did an excellent job of portraying an exciting story, and the editors did an exceptional job of making sure no errors were found in the book. For this, I commend the efforts of the editors. I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars as no part of the book was disliked by me. This book was able to set the stage for other books to come in the series. I am recommending it to lovers of fantasy and am also looking forward to the next installment.
