We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a fictional novel. The story starts with a prologue that tells us how Lord Orlin and Lord Meldorath were overthrown from power because of the evil things they did to the people of Hillport. Then the story goes back to the past to tell us how the Land of the Princes became a war zone. Galen Bray, the main character of this novel, leaves the Land of the Princes to go and live with his uncle in Magnum Caelum. He is informed that his uncle died upon arrival. Galen later meets with his uncle’s executor, Rowan. Meanwhile, King Wilhelm Arcolo appoints Eldus as Lord of Hillport. Eldus’s primary purpose was to restore the economy of Hillport, which his predecessors destroyed due to greed. People of Hillport were told that Meldorath was killed, but some believe that Meldorath’s power is so strong that no one can kill him.

The ending was so thrilling that one couldn’t wait to read this book's follow-up. I also liked how the author added a map of the places mentioned in the book. It helps readers visualize the areas with ease. The characters in the novel were well-developed, and they felt relatable. My favorite parts were Meldorath’s because of the many mysteries surrounding him. I liked the relationship between Gary and Rowan. When they first met, they didn’t know each other, but Rowan offered to buy Gary dinner. Rowan endangered his life by helping Gary acquire the best equipment he needed to become the best blacksmith.

I liked reading the book, but the novel had little action, mainly from the beginning to the middle. I wished the author had added more action to keep the readers interested from beginning to end. The author focused on so many characters that sometimes confused me, and I had to go back and read previous pages to link the stories.

I think the book was well-edited because I didn’t find any spelling error or grammar errors. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I can’t wait to read the next part of this series.

I recommend this book to people who love thriller novels. It is a story of magic, war, and poor leadership, perfect for thriller lovers. However, I don’t recommend it to young readers and sensitive people because of the scenes of war, the use of curse words, and sex jokes.
