Galen Bray experiences an unforeseen twist in his life when he is presented with the chance to inherit his great-uncle's forge in Magnum Caelum, a city located in Voulhire. However, he soon realizes that he must acquire extensive knowledge about the city and the art of blacksmithing before he can establish a stable source of income. In the meantime, King Wilhelm designates Judge Eldus as the new ruler of Hillport, a town brimming with untapped potential. Not only must Eldus lead the town's development, but he must also confront the lingering fear left behind by previous leaders. Will Eldus triumph in his mission and bring prosperity to Hillport? Can Galen overcome his troubled past and embrace a promising future in Voulhire? To immerse themselves in the journeys of Lord Eldus and Galen, readers can embark on an exploration of Matthew Tysz's enthralling novel, We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies

This book delves into themes such as power dynamics, personal identity, and the consequences of rebellion. It introduces captivating characters and a meticulously crafted setting. Serving as the first installment in a series, it establishes the foundation for a larger, more thrilling narrative. The author's writing style immerses readers in the story, allowing them to easily connect with both the plot and the characters. While the book maintains a fast pace and offers a plethora of action and suspense, it also takes the time to explore the emotional struggles and growth of the characters. Additionally, the book's setting is superbly realized, enhanced by the inclusion of maps that lend authenticity to the world and provide clarity to its political structure. Among the characters, my personal favorite is the wise king, who cunningly employs wisdom to avert his own demise at the hands of his sons.

I found the characters, Lord Eldus and his family, to be remarkably skilled, which greatly added to the allure of the book. Particularly, Isla and Marhius, the children, were captivating. However, I didn't find the flirtatious nature of Prince Darius, the king's son, to be as convincing. The fight sequences and depictions of magic were incredibly vivid, creating an immersive experience for readers. The author's use of language, tone, and mannerisms for the characters was exceptional, deserving praise. The plot unfolded with suspense, leaving readers eager for more until the entire series reaches its conclusion. Furthermore, the book makes references to other series, adding an additional layer of intrigue.

There is absolutely nothing to dislike in this book. The narrative captivated me to such an extent that I was unable to set it aside until I reached the very last page. Although I would have welcomed a more in-depth exploration of the three realms mentioned, I recognize that such intricacies may be saved for future installments in the series.

The absence of any errors in the book indicates a meticulous level of exceptional editing, which contributes to its high quality. As a result, I award this book a well-deserved rating of 5 out of 5 stars. Every element, ranging from the carefully crafted premise to the unique qualities of each character, was executed flawlessly, leaving no grounds for deducting any stars.

I recommend this book to individuals who relish dark and intense scenes, as it encompasses a significant number of deaths. Fans of epic fantasy and grand quests will undoubtedly find this narrative enthralling, as it is replete with magic, adventure, and profound moments of self-discovery. In my opinion, anyone with an appreciation for fantasy and adventure stories should make a point to read this book.
