Post by cogarae »

Darkness Fair by Rachel A. Marks is the second book in The Dark Cycle Series. It is a young adult/adult fantasy that evolves around gods, angels, and demons.

Aiden and his team of paranormal investigators all have special powers. Aiden can see demons and souls. Ava, Aiden's younger sister's soul has been trapped away from her body and Aiden struggles to bring her back. While trying to figure out how he can return his sister back to human form, he must fight the demons that wander around hunting for Ava. Rebecca, the girl Aiden was fated to be with, struggles to keep her feelings for Aiden under control. Meanwhile, Kara, the girl Aiden is in love with, is in danger because she changed destiny. Aiden has to fight the darkness that arises in order to save Ava and Kara. in the end, is all the sacrifice that Aiden has to make worth it?

After reading the first book in this series, I could not wait to read this one. Marks did a fantastic job with this book by keeping me on edge. The story line is so unique and interesting, that you can not help but want to read more! The emotions of the characters can strongly be felt throughout the book. It is easy to visualize the characters and events that take place due to the very descriptive details that Marks provides.

The ending of the book was shocking but it ended in a way that makes the reader want more. I found myself having a variety of emotions ranging from anger, happiness, shock, which all added up to me wanting more. I can not wait to read the next book in the series when it comes out. This series could definitely have a prequel too due to all the background information the author provides.

There was never a moment that I was not pleased with the writing or story in this book. I give this book a 4/4 and recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy books that have angels and demons,
