Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
Book Title: We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
Author: Mathews Tysz
We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Mathews Tysz is a fantasy book. I found it very interesting to read. The author begins with the overthrowing of Lord Orlin of Hillport by Meldorath, a former General and friend of the King of Voulhire. The reality of diversity in the strength of two world orders: the physical Cosmic represented by Orlin and the magical Caromantis by Meldorath comes out. Three months later, King Wilhelm arrested Lord Meldorath and sent him to die in an undisclosed location. He installed former judge Eldus Alderman as the new Lord of Hillport. Lord Eldus sought to calm the people of Hillport after the devastation caused by Meldorath, believed to be dead. However, why was this so difficult to believe? Why were many people, not only in Hillport but also in other political circles of Voulhire, afraid of Meldorath if he was dead?
We find Galen Bray, an immigrant from the Land of Princes. After surviving decades of civil war in his ancestral land finally receives information from an executor of his uncle’s estate to come to Magnum Caelum in Voulhire as the heir. He arrives at a warm welcome from the Mayor, who shows him the estate. Shortly, he gets a sweet surprise when he meets Rowan, the executor of his uncle’s estate, that turns out to be a great friend and companion to him later. His quest for a better life in Voulhire takes a new turn with Rowan. How far did he go?
This book gives us an in-depth account of a mix of magic, religion, and politics. Overall, the kingdom of Voulhire has many political strives with many problems; it has much more than meets the eye!
The author’s captivating plot and language are simple to understand. The reference guide included was very useful. The selection of characters is good. The dialogue in it is down-to-earth and very interesting. Lots of suspense after each scene makes one want to go on reading to unravel the mystery of what lies ahead. The editing was great! With this, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
The author had a too-detailed description of the scenes. There was some discontinuity in the flow. It takes too long to get back to the same character.
For lovers of fantasy, this is your book! But if you are uncomfortable with violence, this book might not be ideal as it has several such scenes. Overall, I enjoyed reading and will keep re-reading this book.
