SM Stirling Dies the Fire

As I was diving into post apocalypse fiction a few years ago I came across Dies the Fire. It is a new and exciting twist. The end of the world mechanism is unique and the author ties the story together with deep characters. The book MAY have a touch of the supernatural, but it is definently about how civilization survives when the world goes to crap.
