Unbeknownst to humankind, planet Earth harbors a thriving community of otherworldly magical beings whose abilities greatly outmatch our own. They are as varied in form as they are in their intentions toward humans and toward each other, but they have been kept in relative order for many years by an organization known as the Keepers. One woman, however, seeks to disrupt this order by single-handedly starting a war. Julia, better knowns as Jules, is a powerful Elven woman on a mission driven by a host of personal reasons. Guided by the spirits of her parents and her own keen intellect, Jules is willing to do anything to complete her mission and get revenge upon Afanisiy, the twisted cult leader who used to hold her captive.

Jules: The 2nd Adventure is the sequel to another book entitled Olyvia. When I downloaded the book, I was unaware that it was part of a series, but the author did a superb job of giving this book all of the necessary components to stand on its own.

Although short in length (the Kindle edition is only ninety-four pages), Jules: The 2nd Adventure has a strong plot and enough surprises to keep the reader thoroughly engaged. The author is a talented storyteller whose words paint a vibrant picture in the reader's mind. I became completely engrossed in Jules' world and found myself wanting to know more, so much that I went ahead and downloaded Olyvia before I was finished reading this book! For the record, I have yet to read Olyvia, as I wanted to ensure that this review would be solely focused upon Jules and her story, but I intend to read it very soon!

On top of offering a captivating story, the book is virtually free of typos and grammatical errors, proving both the author's talent and professionalism. In the world of online publishing, poor editing to a common problem, and it's refreshing to come across a book that has been carefully reviewed and revised.

By far, the best aspect of this novel is Jules herself. Like the world she lives in, her character is well-developed and very believable. As I read, her character came to life in a way that made me feel as though I could glance up from the page and find her smirking at me from across the room. She is what most people would consider an anti-hero: sarcastic, brash, and singularly focused on achieving her goals, even if it means that people might get hurt. However, there are moments that reveal she isn't the heartless assassin that even she believes herself to be. The book ended with a strong hint toward a sequel, and it will be very interesting to witness her further development.

Jules: The 2nd Adventure was a thoroughly enjoyable read, and I give it 4 out of 4 stars for solid writing and careful editing. I would recommend this book to lovers of fantasy and classic horror, as the book offers up plenty of elements from both genres.

Wow, this sounds like a fantastic read! Now I'm really curious: is there any romance at all (even ones not involving Jules)? What kind of other magical beings are there? Are any humans that get caught up in Jules' mission?

Thanks for the great review!

Thanks for reading my review, Erasmus! Unfortunately, I can't answer most of your questions without including spoilers, but I can say that there is a great variety of otherworldly beings in this book.
