I really liked Ender's Game when i read it, and i am a bit disappointed in the second book. Are there any books that anyone recommends that are like this one, similar or simply a good science fiction read? Thanks

You should really read the Birthmarked trilogy!!! I just finished the second book last night and it was soooo amazing! You should also read The Mortal Instruments and Alice in Zombieland...

Good SF? (Not repeat NOT fantasy, and not juvenile fiction, but for adults?)...

"This Immortal" by Roger Zelazny-- an exciting future tale of a man who's an immortal but living as a normal human, and after a terrible nuclear war, benevolent aliens help restore human civilization, albeit with a patronizing attitude. Terrific story, fascinating plot and great characters.

"Downward to the Earth" by Robert Silverberg. As humans advanced, they ventured out into the galaxy and settled on many planets, unfortunately having a colonial subjugation of less advanced aliens. Later, Earth realized its mistakes and reneged and let control return to the aliens of all the worlds, a total reversal of a very wrong policy. A man who was the administrator (read: dictator) of a lush jungle world twenty years ago returns to seek penance for his deeds, and ask forgiveness from the aliens who live there. The story is a deliberate parallel of Conrad's great story "Heart of Darkness" and the novel is one of the finest SF novels ever written.

"Lord of Light" by Roger Zelazny. As human civilization advanced, many colonies were established on new planets across the galaxy, and humans either terraformed the planets or adapted themselves biologically to live there (human technology is immense by now). One particular planet was settled mostly by ancestors with Hindu backgrounds, and when they set up a civilization of their own on this new planet, they decided to create among themselves a culture just like the ancient and mythological Hindi pantheon of gods, altering their own bodies to become like gods and rule over their own biological ancestors on the planet (this took thousands of years so the early arrivals had children and populated the planet, but the new leaders, essentially immortal due to high technology, now rule as gods). But one of them decides this must be overthrown, and he decides the way to do this is to fight fire with fire, and he therefore becomes The Buddha. "Lord of Light" has been voted one of the top 10 or so SF novels ever. It's amazing, exciting, and very deep philosophically without being the slightest bit boring. And often funny.

Alistair Reynolds is an author I would recommend for good SciFi.
