"We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" is the first installment of a book series by Matthew Tysz. The story unfolds as our protagonist, Galen Bray, flees from the warring lands of the lands of princes after learning about an inheritance left to him by his uncle. His uncle, a well-respected swordsmith in town left all of his possessions to him, an estate and a forge together with his diary, to help Galen learn the art of his craft. Now, with the help of his uncle's executor -- Galen embarks on a journey to live a new life and make a name for his own.

One thing I like about this book is that the fight scenes were very much detailed. The gory scenes were so on point that it almost felt like I am witnessing the scenes transpire with my very eyes. The author did a great job in instilling fear into me and every scene sent shivers down my spine. Now every time I read the main antagonists' name I can't help but tremble in horror. As intense as the feeling was during the fight scenes it was lacking in other aspects. There was this scene that confers guilt but I didn't get the feeling whilst reading the passage. I don't know if it was intentional or not but it was a downgrade. The author also did a very good job in captivating me as a reader. Two pages in and I barely want to put the book down. Every page had me throbbing with excitement. That need to figure out what happens next is just never satisfied and keeps me wanting more.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy and magic. The world-building in this one is very well thought out. The book is professionally edited and I found no errors. For these reasons, I rate it five stars out of five. I will definitely read the following installments as I very much enjoyed the story and I can hardly wait to finally see what will become of our protagonist and how he will fit in. Will he find a way to fight magic with his sword? Will he abandon his uncle's will and learn the ways of a mage instead? Or will he incorporate magic into his swordsmanship? Whatever the case may be, I am definitely looking forward to what role he will play in the grand scheme of things.
