This book was a very quick read. I loved enjoying the retelling of/alterations to classic fairy tales and nursery rhymes. They are clever, fun, and create a much more interesting story. The dark journey to the truth of who the "Crooked Man" is and what he symbolizes is well crafted. It moves quickly, gathering momentum as it goes, although this does halt a bit prematurely, however this is easily forgiven by the detail that lies in this book.
I do want to suggest however, being sure to analyze whether or not this book is appropriate for your child. It has a suggested minimum age of 10 however there are very dark elements I wouldn't want my ten year old to read. These include, rape, molestation, gruesome torture, etc. I definitely classify it more so suited for young adults to adults within a fantasy genre.
