If you love a well written fantasy story where an unlikely femine hero lies then this book is for you.
Celaena Sardothien is summond from prison to the Kingdom by the son of the King who has outlawed magic, to win her freedom. If she wins the competition she will be the King's Champion, and after a term of servitude, will regain her freedom.

The slightly cocky yet identifiable Celaena Sardothien becomes an unlikely hero and the reader is taken on the journey that turns a convicted assassin into someone who finally has people she cares about and will do anything to keep them safe.

Sometimes you will find yourself wanting to hate her for her arrogance but then the unlikely twists leaves you sympatising with her and realising that we all have used this defence mechanisim at some point in our lives.

The subtle touch of magic and mystery grabs and holds the readers attention but not so much that it leaves you thinking it was completely unbelivable.
I have read this book three times since it was released in 2013 and each time I have read it I have picked up on subtle hints that I had not before.

It is a series that must be on your to read list.
