Review of Bound in strength
Ren is a young boy with a happy family; however, his whole world is turned upside down when his family gets involved in an accident on their way to his father's award ceremony. In the blink of an eye, the world as Ren knows it quickly disappears.
Meanwhile, on another planet far away from Earth, a kingdom known as the Mejuarian kingdom prepares for their mewling ceremony—a sort of birthing ceremony. However, a few days after the ceremony, the scientists in the kingdom discover an anomaly. A meteor seems to be headed for the kingdom, and none of their efforts seems to be working to destroy the meteor. The kingdom is faced with a sudden dilemma: either evacuate the kingdom, risking the safety of the mewlings and losing everything or stay back and risk getting killed by the meteor.
Bound in Strength: The Mejuarian by Zola Blue is a fantasy novel. We are weaved through different worlds and see as each character goes through the motions of life on their respective planets. We explore the various possibilities of an unknown world and go through familiar emotions with these interesting creatures, ranging from their unique form to their special powers. Meanwhile, on Earth, we see what loss can do to a family.
I love how the book emphasizes certain emotions so that the reader finds themselves enraptured by that particular emotion. For example, when the Mejuarian kingdom is faced with a dilemma, the emotion of fear and tension in the kingdom is quite palpable. I also loved the description of the characters of the Mejuarian kingdom, which left one with different ideas and creative bursts of imagination. Finally, I loved how the book ended on some sort of cliffhanger. Also, I found only one grammatical error in the book, which suggests that the book was professionally edited. The minute number of grammatical errors in the book made the reading experience more enjoyable.
However, the plot didn't have a great flow; we were moved between the two worlds with no warning, causing a little confusion. Plus, there were some irrelevant details littered across the book, like the scene involving Mrs. "Booty-Green". It felt irrelevant and pointless to the plot of the story.
To an extent, I enjoyed reading this book thanks to the fantasy aspect; however, due to my concerns, I will rate it 4 out of 5 stars. Considering that my concerns are mostly subjective, I won't rate it lower. If you're someone who loves getting lost in the world of supernatural creatures, then this book would be a perfect evening read for you. Enjoy!
