In Peacock White survival, Linda Lorraine explores what life would be like if the world were to end. Jim and his wife are on vacation in Canada when unsettling news is aired. The sun is erupting solar flares, and birds are dropping dead from the sky. The couple packs in haste and returns to their bush home in Australia, where they keep peacocks, kangaroos, wallabies, horses, chickens, and goats.

Things intensify when they get back to Australia. People begin committing suicide, religious leaders tell Christians to accept Jesus as their savior, stores and shops are short in supplies, and the world is quite chaotic. Further, natural disasters like earthquakes, tornadoes, and wild storms are causing immense damage. People are in fear for their lives. Will Jim and his family survive?

I enjoyed the scientific explanations about solar flares and other natural epidemics. I tried imagining living in an ending world without power. Even worse, I could not keep in touch with my family. One can’t tell who is alive or dead. In short, the world is in panic! I enjoyed the survival tactics the author includes in the ending pages.

When animals begin dying, humans realize it is just a matter of time before the world ends. More Christians are turning to God to avoid going to hell. I wondered if the narrator and her family would stay alive or otherwise. That suspense kept me on my toes from beginning to end, and I loved it.

However, I disliked some aspects. The book has very many mistakes. There are a ton of grammatical errors on each page. The author would spell a word right on one page but wrongly on another. Some sentences don’t make sense even after re-reading them. Also, the author confuses words such as “feel” and “fill.” In addition, we have repetitions during conversations and wrongly placed quotation marks. The book is not even proofread, let alone being professionally edited. For the above reasons, I rate it 2 out of 5 stars. I will not give it a lower rating because I enjoyed the book’s concept and plot. After this installment goes through professional editing, readers who love a thought-provoking plot with scientific underpinnings will enjoy it.

The plot seems really interesting. I’m curious to know about solar flares, including if this incident has ever occurred in the history of mankind. I truly hope Jim and family will survive.

This seems like a novel with good potential that requires more editing, and I mean a serious revision, with proper proofreading. Thank you for your honest review!
