Lord of the Wood by Frank Giammanco is a funny, entertaining story full of wonder and fantasy. Joseph "Sonny" Bursa is a typical corporate employee who is sent by his company's CEO to a small town called Eugene in Oregon on a work assignment. However, Sonny soon realizes this work trip will change his life forever. On this trip, Sonny sees a mysterious creature that cannot be human. Moreover, this creature appears to be doing funny antics, and this intrigues Sonny to no end. So, he decides to go back to Oregon and embark on an adventure to find this creature that we later understand is Bigfoot. Unknown to Sonny, there is another group that is following Bigfoot's trail: a journalist and her team and a scientific expert.

One of the exciting things I noted in the book was there were no chapters. The author divided the book into three parts for its storytelling. The plot was great. There were dreams (good and bad), deaths, and an abundance of adventures that entertained me thoroughly. The characters are all very well-written. There are warm characters, funny characters, those that would make your blood boil, and the ones that would surprise you with their actions. In my opinion, having such a wide range of characters was one of the best features of this story.

The only negative thing about the book was that it tended to drag in between. For example, after the entire first part of the book (almost half), Sonny finally returns to Oregon for his adventure. At times, I would have a hard time to continue reading the book, but the promise of the mystery revealed at the end, the excellent writing, and the character development kept me engaged.

I rate this book 4 out of 5. I am deducting a star because there were silly mistakes and typos. Otherwise, the book was well-edited.

Legends about Bigfoot and similar creatures are a classic of folklore that sometimes are used in fiction. In this case, Bigfoot is used in an engaging adventure with a diverse cast of characters. Thank you for your great review!
