Review of Falling Leaf

[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Falling Leaf" by Julie Naillon.]
Falling Leaf by Julie Naillon is a book about a young Druid, Naria. In a vision, she sees her village burn to the ground. Unfortunately, her vision comes to pass. She is left with just her travel companions. They decide to do all they can to restore their home and bring their people back. Naria is without her father to guide her in using her new powers. She must trust her companions as they journey to seek answers and bring their people back.
The first thing I will discuss is how the author distinguishes different narrative aspects. A worthy mention is the presentation of each character's thoughts in italics. Putting them in italics helps to differentiate them from the regular speeches made by each character.
There is a smooth transition in the story. It doesn't feel jumped in any way. The author successfully carries the reader through the various stages of the quest for answers and ensures no confusion or query emanates. The author also doesn't drag the story; it is engaging from the first read.
The author does a great job in the emotional aspect of the book. While reading, the reader will be invested in the protagonist and root for her throughout the book. When a little hurt happens, it can get the reader worried and praying that nothing happens to Naria.
I also loved the inclusion of "original language" in the book. It made the book feel like it was not just a regular story. The author used words like F'sana felia, ors'ghi, Dultur, Quilium, Turnak!, etc. I was initially thrown aback when I began to encounter these strange words. Thankfully, there was a glossary to help me know their meanings. However, I had to juggle between the main story and the glossary. It did not affect my enjoyment of the book, though.
The book was professionally edited. There was nothing I disliked about the book.
Falling Leaf is a book recommended to all lovers of adventures. It brings home various themes, such as bravery, friendship, and sacrifice. I rate it five out of five stars because I love everything about it.
