David C. Hoke's Mirov is a science fiction action novel that creatively combines both extraterrestrial encounters and adventures in an expertly told violent action book.

Mirov is a cold-blooded assassin trained to kill anything and anyone that stands in the way of Unidom's ambition to control everything, until she was betrayed. Forced to leave Earth for Mars, she harbours hatred and silently seeks vengeance on Unidom, the organisation that took everything from her. She is soon drawn into a three-way war where she is forced to either side with the organisation that took everything from her to destroy one common enemy or watch the world go down in flames.

If badass was a character, it would be Mirov; she's everything the protagonist of a masterpiece action sci-fi novel like this could be. She's ferocious and brave; she may have her flaws, but she makes up for most of them in battle wit. I liked the book because of how vivid the descriptions and illustrations the author used were. A few examples would be when he was describing the hell of a scene Mirov came to meet at her station and his description of the faulty droid (Ethel) Mirov encountered during the early parts of the book. I enjoyed the dynamics of the relationship Mirov and the droid Ethel had. I also liked the suspense the book held, starting from the very first page. I also liked how expertly the author added humour to the book without distracting the readers from the direness of the situation.

I found myself without any dislikes whatsoever for the book; rather, the book was also flawlessly edited.

Overall, I'd rate David C. Hoke's "Mirov" 5 out of 5 stars for its amazing plot, detailed illustrations, and great character development.

I'd recommend the book to adults and young adults who are fans of action, science fiction, and suspense-filled books.
