The Soldier D.S. Fisher

The Soldier
By D.S. Fisher

The main character in the story Maddus joins the defenders of the fortress capital Tenarr the land of the Demurians. The King Howndell and his army of 10,000 against the army of the king McRayne and the land of Sindutia and their champion Gall ‘ar. The king’s advisor Kalicka gives him the knowledge of what should be done to have his army conquer many lands. The author D.S. Fisher creates a world where the swords clash against the battle-axes and men and women join in the fray. Exciting storytelling that takes you to the battlefield. When the troops of King Howndell are not in training, they are in the bar having some ale. They have seven days to prepare for battle. The sergeant Degessi and trainer Serran have their jobs cut out for them in order to get the troops ready. One of my favorite lines from the story. “His beard was so thick it was impossible to determine whether he was smiling or not, and his dark eyes did not shine, but his bald head did.” I found this story to be an excellent read. I look forward to reading more works by this talented author. I rated it a solid 5 star rating. Well written with a great cast of exciting characters who will bring you to the battlefield. I can hear the sound of bagpipes. It won’t be long now until the attack begins. And another line from the story. “You said bravery was standing your ground even when you’re terrified.”
