"Sent to Watch" by David J. Lebenstein is an outstanding addition to the world of Sci-Fi and fantasy literature. This book masterfully weaves a complex and intriguing narrative that takes readers on a captivating journey through a multitude of "Earths." The concept of an Interplanetary Intelligence Service monitoring and interacting with various Earths is truly innovative and kept me engrossed from start to finish. The Interplanetary Intelligence Service has discovered many “Earths” among which some were part of the confederation, few were under surveillance, and the rest were opposed to joining the confederation. The story mostly revolves around Earth 48 and the agents that were assigned for surveilling. Their motto was “Sent to watch but not to affect,” but the agents plan to go beyond their duties and face challenges. Did they succeed? One has to read the book to know about it.

One of the standout aspects of this novel is the meticulous attention to detail. The author's world-building is exceptional, and the descriptions of the different Earths, their unique political and social systems, and the conflicts that arise between them are vividly portrayed. The story's depth and complexity are a testament to Lebenstein's skill in creating a rich and immersive universe.

I liked how the characters in "Sent to Watch" are compelling and well-developed. I found myself deeply invested in their journeys and the challenges they face. The names of the characters, along with the carefully chosen dates and places, add an authentic and immersive quality to the story, making it all the more engaging.

Furthermore, the pacing and structure of the book are impeccable. The plot unfolds with just the right balance of tension, mystery, and unexpected twists, keeping the reader eagerly turning pages. Each chapter leaves you craving for more. The book is professionally edited and there is nothing to dislike about it. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars!

In conclusion, "Sent to Watch" is a captivating and thought-provoking exploration of alternate realities and interplanetary diplomacy. David J. Lebenstein has crafted a masterpiece in the Sci-Fi and fantasy genre, delivering a compelling story that will leave readers both satisfied and craving more. I highly recommend this book to all lovers of imaginative and intricate storytelling.
