Homecoming by Jude Austin is the second book in A Five Worlds series featuring Kalin Taylor, a teen boy who got stripped of his humanity. After escaping from GenTech, a human cloning facility, Kalin struggles to regain his human credentials because GenTech faked his death and claims he is just a rogue project (human clone) that stole Project Tau. Kalin is determined to return to his home world of Trandellia to get his death overturned so he and Tau can live in peace. But because of Kalin's new body modifications, Core Central, the Trandellian government, has other plans for him.

Austin has written another amazing story. I loved this book just as much as the first one. Every aspect is thought out and organized. The events are easy to follow. I enjoyed how Austin's writing style left an aura of mystery. I never knew what was going to happen. The author's way with words lets my imagination run wild, trying to figure out what's next, allowing suspense and shocking twists to fuel my drive to continue reading.

I loved how Austin incorporated many important topics into this story. The book sheds light on the importance of friendship, family values, and mental health. Kalin and Tau have to adjust to life outside the lab, which includes learning how and who to trust. They must learn how to cope with feelings like anger, shame, and jealousy. It was interesting to see how Kalin and Tau's friendship transformed when they each made a new friend. The introduction of Allen and Kurai and how they impacted Kalin and Tau was fascinating. I can't wait to read what transpires between these four characters. I think Austin did a beautiful job describing Kalin's eating disorder delicately and respectfully. Also, I enjoyed how flawlessly Austin depicted Tau's mental status by expressing his point of view as an actual clone and how he processed what was going on around him.

I rate this book a 5 out of 5. This book is exceptionally well-edited, with no errors I can account for. I loved this story through and through and have nothing negative to say about it.

Homecoming is an exciting, action-packed sci-fi fantasy novel. I do recommend reading book one, Project Tau, first. Readers who enjoy the concept of a futuristic world with clones would like this book. This book does have adult content and a heavy amount of profanity.
