Agents of the Interplanetary Intelligence Service go on a multi-planet adventure in Sent to Watch by David J. Lebenstein. We follow Ori and Unni, two agents who take part in a covert operation on Earth. They are under strict orders to never change the natural course of development any population on a planet is following.

As the two pretend to be an ordinary human couple, they fall in love, which is strictly against the policy of their organisation. The organisation discovers an empire that is taking planets around it under its control and is heading straight towards the Interplanetary Intelligence Service itself. Take a deep dive into alien civilisations, love, duties, moral dilemmas, and more with this tastefully written book.

Something that I enjoyed about this book, which came to me as an honest surprise, was the political and socio-cultural deep dive that this book was set against. Napoleon and his reign were a big theme, and while I am not a fan of history, especially in the sci-fi novels I read, but they really added to the layers that this book had to offer. There was a lot of obvious and subtle commentary by the author about this era and human beings, and I thought that the sci-fi nature of the book actually helped highlight it.

The characters were well-fleshed out, and I found their connections to be genuine and easy to root for. They not only served as great vessels for the plot and themes of the books, but they were memorable personalities on their own.

There was nothing that I disliked about this book. I also found no typos or grammatical errors while reading; therefore, it was exceptionally edited. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I would recommend this book for sci-fi lovers who enjoy political themes.
