As the U.S. falls, the country gets corrupted. The residents have to get tattoos and get chipped, with which the government controls them and monitors their DNA. Along with all this, Christians are persecuted, and people who refuse to obey the government’s requirements cannot shop at supermarkets, have very limited access to basic supplies, and are in great danger from the officials. With all this going on, there’s a distant valley where some Christians have moved to honor God and live a peaceful life. During their time in the valley, many people’s lives turn upside down, and the neighbors have to fight a lot for their freedom and safety. This is the blurb of Of the Earth, an action-packed fiction by Kim Cousins that is full of love stories, struggles, violence, and many hardships.

There are many positive sides to this book. Firstly, the author’s writing style is interesting, which makes the book easily readable and intriguing. Secondly, as I have mentioned, the book is packed with action, and there’s always some event that the reader will be looking forward to. Additionally, the book is exceptionally well edited, as I didn’t find any errors.

On the other side, there was one major setback to this book. As I proceeded through the book and the story came to an end, it lacked a sense of completion and unity. My interpretation of this was that the Christian author wanted to emphasize the spiritual existence of a person, but I still do not accept the sudden and incomplete end of the book. It just felt like a cut-and-short story that didn’t carry any value.

I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. Even though the story was interesting and well-edited, I had to deduct a star for its confusing end. I think the book needs more editing, as it feels like it is left in the air.

I would recommend this book to young adults who love fiction and do not mind reading about violence and cruelty.
