Review of Sent to Watch
Sent to Watch by David J. Lebenstein is a thrilling sci-fi historical novel. It is an incredible sci-fi novel that seamlessly blends historical facts with futuristic elements. It is a novel that follows the story of alien spies sent to watch leading factions or nations on primitive planets to determine when that planet is culturally and technically ready for admission to the confederation of civilised planets, a confederation of dozens of earth-like planets. The heroine, Unni, is to marry one of the male agents and birth a son who would be a future British prime minister to carry out the necessary reforms. From an inflexible supervisor to a jealous team member, this plan was continuously attacked. The novel takes readers on an exhilarating journey through time and space, offering a unique perspective on both past and future events. Each character was uniquely crafted with their own quirks, flaws, and motivations. I found myself forming a deep connection with them, cheering for their triumphs and feeling their heartaches. The character development was top-notch, making them feel like real people that I genuinely cared about. This novel is slow-paced and more of a character study than an action-packed adventure. I think the novel is thought-provoking and raises important questions about the role of humans in the universe and the ethical implications of our actions.
I liked the writer's ability to breakdown historical facts and his style of writing. The author has a beautiful, evocative, and informative writing style, which is perfect for the genre of this book. The style makes the novel more realistic and relatable.
I disliked how the pacing was quite slow, and it can be a bit of a struggle to get into the story. While I thoroughly enjoyed Sent to Watch, there were a few moments where the complexity of the historical and sci-fi elements made it slightly challenging to follow. However, this didn't detract from the overall enjoyment of the book.
I would rate Sent to Watch a solid 5 out of 5 stars. It is an enthralling blend of history and science fiction that will leave you craving for more. There were absolutely no errors, as this book was thoroughly edited.
I'd recommend this book to fans of both history and sci-fi, as it offers a fresh and exciting take on historical events while keeping you on the edge of your seat with its thrilling sci-fi elements. Overall, I think it's worth reading, and it's quite different from other sci-fi novels.
