We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies plunges readers into a richly imagined fantasy world where magic mixes with steam engines. The narrative unfolds through the perspectives of multiple characters, offering diverse viewpoints and a sense that the real main character is the world of Voulhire itself.

I particularly admired the vibrant descriptions that introduce each chapter presented in a cinematic structure. These not only serve as a captivating visual backdrop but also as a deliberate pace-setting mechanism, allowing readers to pause after the culmination of dynamic events in the preceding chapter.

The reader exploring the world together with the characters, is a gratifying aspect of the storytelling. This gradual unveiling of the world's complexity, often through dialogues, diary entries, and fragments of notebooks, fosters a sense of shared knowledge and immersion, drawing the reader into the heart of the story.

The author's command of language is truly remarkable, employing an original and sophisticated vocabulary that reflects his unique writing style and linguistic skills. I particularly appreciated inventive metaphors, such as "Footsteps only fade if the one who made them is truly gone."

Additionally, the text offers nuggets of wisdom that resonate with readers, with my personal favorite being, "Mastery requires intimacy, intimacy requires passion.”
The character development in the novel is impressive, revealing reasonable motives and illustrating how individual personalities have been shaped by their pasts. However, while I appreciate the author's efforts to unveil this complexity, I believe it would have been more effective to reveal it through the characters' own words and actions rather than through descriptive narration.

Initially, the storyline appeared somewhat chaotic to me, and the initial scene involving the wholesale slaughter of the castle crew by a lone antagonist struck me as somewhat juvenile and simplistic. Although such motifs recur throughout the book, they fortunately do not detract significantly from the overall experience as the story delves deeper into the realm of magic.

Overall, We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a well-written, professionally edited, and meticulously crafted work of fantasy literature. I highly recommend it to any enthusiast of the genre, awarding it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars, with one star deducted for the issues I mentioned above.
