We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is an engrossing entry into the fantasy genre, showcasing the author's talent in world-building and intricate storytelling. The novel, set in the richly detailed kingdom of Voulhire, follows Galen Bray as he seeks a new life in this land of opportunity, escaping his war-torn homeland. Tysz expertly weaves a complex narrative that balances elements of mystery, magic, and political intrigue.

Galen's journey, which begins with him inheriting his uncle's forge, quickly intertwines with the larger, multi-faceted plot surrounding the kingdom. King Wilhelm Arcolo's ambition for Voulhire's glory and Lord Eldus Alderman's efforts to rehabilitate Hillport provide a backdrop of political and social reform.

What sets this novel apart is Tysz's skillful handling of a diverse cast of characters, each contributing to the story's depth. Characters like the cunning Lord High Chancellor Midius Maido and the straightforward Rowan add layers of complexity to the narrative. The first-person narration for Galen, juxtaposed with the third-person perspectives of other characters, offers a unique storytelling approach, enhancing the reader's engagement with the plot.

Tysz's world is not just geographically expansive but also culturally rich. The author's attention to detail in crafting the history, geography, and societal norms of Voulhire adds authenticity to the narrative. The inclusion of a map and a reference guide aids in immersing the reader in this meticulously constructed world.

I loved the intricacy of the plot, and I could not stop myself from reading. It is an exceptionally well-written book, and I found no grammatical errors or typos, which made the reading experience all the more pleasurable. Also, I need to say that there is nothing I did not like about the book, but I have to warn readers about the deeply graphic scenes and profanity since they might be too much to handle for some people.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. It is exceptionally well-edited, as I have already stated, and I recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy and intricacy.
