“Where Have All The Elves Gone?” by Christian Warren Freed follows main character Daniel Thomas through an amazing adventure. Daniel is a local Sci-Fi/Fantasy author focusing on the world of elves. After being turned down on his latest novel on these fantasy beings, he is determined to go and meet his agent and demand answers. Upon arriving, he witnesses her assassination and is thrust into an adventure to rescue an Elven princess, turning his entire world upside down. As he struggles to accept what he believed was fiction, he discovers there is more going on than he realized.

The author of this great novel Christian Freed incorporates some of his life experiences into his work. Serving three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan he builds his characters with the knowledge and expertise of battle. From military tactics and gear, you can find his experience throughout his work. It was something I noticed was greatly incorporated into his main character.

Daniel Thomas’ character was portrayed as a military vet living a quiet life with his wife and kids before being thrust into a crazy mess with the elves. He quickly remembers all his military training to rescue the princess, protect his wife, and save his hide. The story was significantly enhanced being viewed through his eyes. He had a great personality and developed into a better person as the story progressed.

Another thing I enjoyed about this novel was the different species the author incorporated into his story. I haven’t read many books containing Elves, Gnomes, Dwarves, Trolls, Gargoyles, Ogres, and Fairies all in one. I found that the Gargoyle was one of the most interesting characters of this little group. Norman Guilt was my second favorite character, and I hope that the author continues with another book with him involved. He is the Gargoyle and is a trained assassin who greatly aids Daniel during the chaos.

The author did a great job with this book. I have very few things that I disliked. There were very few grammar errors, which show that it was edited professionally. I did feel that the story itself felt a bit rushed. It is hard to believe that all that happened could happen in one night but overall I enjoyed reading it. That is why I am giving this book a 4 out of 4 stars overall. It was extremely hard for me to put this book down. If you enjoy a good adventure with a lot of action, this book is perfect for you. It is 336 standard pages and falls under the Sci-Fi/ Fantasy category. The book features a gorgeous cover as well that will spark readers curiosity.

Wow - this is a very new type of story. I'm glad that you liked it! All those "magical" characters, that WOULD be a shock to find out they are real instead of fictional. Thanks for the review!

Certainly does sound like an amazing adventure! What a fantastic coupling of elements - the military background and the mythical creatures. A great review.
