We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is an enthralling fantasy novel that immerses readers in the captivating kingdom of Voulhire. Through skillful storytelling, the author weaves together multiple plotlines, providing a comprehensive glimpse into life within this fantastical realm. As I delved into the pages of this book, I found myself transported to Voulhire, accompanying Galen Bray on his remarkable journey to master the art of blacksmithing. Right from the beginning, I formed an instant connection with Galen, primarily because he embodies his grandmother's wise words - "See the good in everything, and the best of it will find you" (page 15, fourth paragraph). Despite the challenges and dangers he faces, Galen's unwavering optimism resonated with me, making it my favorite aspect of the story.

In addition to Galen's adventures, the author skillfully weaves together various storylines that kept me engrossed. The coexistence of two worlds - Cosmos and Cerements - within Voulhire, the enigmatic eviction of Lord Meldorath, the supernatural occurrences within Meldorath's castle, the mysterious mage gifting Galen a lactis iron rod, and the interconnectedness of all these events, create a compelling and captivating plot.

Furthermore, I appreciate that this book delves beyond being a well-crafted fantasy. The author fearlessly addresses the sensitive topics of pedophilia and immigration from war-torn regions.

Another aspect I enjoyed is that this book serves as the first installment in the We are Voulhire series, consisting of nine novels. I eagerly anticipate reuniting with Galen in the next book of the series.

There was nothing I disliked about this enthralling book.

The book is impeccably edited, devoid of any errors. I relished every episode, leading me to wholeheartedly give this book a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

I highly recommend this book to a mature audience of fantasy and adventure enthusiasts. Although the book's title and cover may not overtly appear "adult," young teenagers may be enticed by the intriguing word "Voulhire" and the mention of a "New Arrival" in the title. However, it is important to note that the book contains mild sexually suggestive scenes and infrequent, mild profanity. Therefore, it is not suitable for children.
