Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
This dizzying book of epic fantasy with elements of magic, science, mystery, and history will keep readers on their toes.
The main character, Galen Bray, is one of his four sons living in a princely kingdom known as the Land of War.
There people die by slow starvation or "death by the sword.
" Although Galen appears to be an innocent and sympathetic character, he moves by boat to Voor Hill in hopes of a better life in Magnum Caelum, in order to inherit Uncle Galen Onita's house and blacksmith shop.
He meets Rowan, who helps him settle down and take over the steel mill.
He begins to alienate those around the house as he understands the politics and corruption of the house, without knowing the dark history of Voulhuil and the events that are happening to him.
Rowan gives him a letter charging him with the responsibility of keeping the country safe.
Lord Eldas, a kind and good-natured king, has a constant desire to uncover the secrets of the sorcerer Meldrath, who experiments with illegal magic on the people of Orlin and Volhya.
Riva Lohavi is a ruthless rebel who scared me.
This fills this book with excitement and mystery as readers find out answers about the future of Lord Meldras and Galen, and the future of the land of Volhya.
I liked the map at the beginning of this book.
This is a visual treat for readers and allows them to delve deeper into the fantasy world.
When the author wrote this book in first- and third-person narratives, the way he differentiated between the world of Wooller and the world of Galen's perception shows that he is a passionate thinker.
The author gradually reveals mysterious characters in surprising ways, letting readers travel through the pages of the book, experience the story for themselves, and enrich their imagination.
This is a fascinating story containing a variety of unique and well-developed personalities, the description of which can be easily told from multiple points of view, giving a better image of the story and giving a clear narrative to all the characters.
Gives depth.
This book has a slow beginning and a frustrating climax, but that's understandable since there are other books in the series list.
Overall, I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.
Because as a reader, you can fully understand the story and immerse yourself in Matthew's fantasy world.
I recommend this book to readers who like science fiction and fantasy genres.
